Pulpfriction

Pulp Friction, or PF for short, is a skirmish wargame designed to allow you, the player, to fight small scale battles using miniature figurines, in a Pulp Fiction setting.

Want to know what Pulp Fiction is? Well, originally the Pulp Genre was a form of Literature (and later film) popular in the early part of the 20th Century, gaining its name from the cheap paper (or pulp) that the books were printed upon. The genre covered many different environments, and even different periods in history, and many of the worlds great fictional heroes (and villains) made their first appearances in these cheap paperbacks, characters such as Tarzan, Doc Savage, Biggles, Flash Gordon, and Fu Manchu. The popularity of this genre waned somewhat in the post-war period, to be revived later by Hollywood in a celluloid form. If you think of such great movies as the Indiana Jones trilogy, The Mummy/ Returns, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, the Tarzan films, and almost any action film set in the 1920’s/30’s, then all have some kind of a Pulp feel to them. What unites them? Invariably the hero of the film comes up against a powerful enemy (usually with a nefarious scheme for world domination, and often with mystical powers), and through superhuman efforts, the hero wins the day for humanity.

It could even be argued that most modern action films are also a form of pulp fiction, certainly anything with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, and even Bruce Willis fit the bill. But for now these rules are only concerned with the pre-WW2 period.
