Overview[]
The goal of these rules is to represent the tactical realities of large scale warfare during the First Phase of the 1879 Anglo-Zulu War, rather than the details of small unit actions.
The British have overwhelming firepower concentrated in a small number of units, while the Zulus have potentially lethal close-combat strength spread throughout a large number of units. The constantly shifting balance of the British need to maintain static positions and the Zulu desire to outmaneuver their firing lines should be the focus of the game, until that final deciding instant when one side or the other collapses.
